How to setup the BPA Login with DrayTek Router
BigPond's Authentication server remembers the unique MAC address of the device which connects to it. When changing devices (whether PC running Telstra Cable Login software, or router) you can either:
- Set your DrayTek to use the MAC address of the previous device. If you know how to find the MAC address of your current device you may prefer to use the MAC address spoofing method.
- Power off your device for 30 minutes before connecting your new device . Since this procedure is easier, it is the method described below.
1. Pre-Setup - Before you configure your router:
- Disconnect your "Telstra Cable Login" software.

- Unplug the power from your cable modem and leave off for 30 minutes. Note that turning the modem's power switch OFF does not clear it's memory - you need to remove the power cord.
- You should Exit from the Telstra Cable Login program; then uninstall it. Your DrayTek router will do the Telstra Cable Login function (also called BigPond Authentication, or BPA); and accidentally using the program on your computer could cause confusion.
2. Configure your router:
- Turn ON power to your DrayTek Vigor router then connect it to your computer using an ethernet LAN cable. Please do not connect the Cable modem to the WAN port now.
-
Open your web browser and login to your router by entering it's IP Address (default is "http://192.168.1.1") into the browser's Address field as shown at the top of the screen image below.
A login dialog window will open asking for username and password. The factory default configuration has no password set, so just click the [OK] button; and the main menu will display as below:

- Go to Internet Access Setup; then Static or Dynamic IP.

- Enable " Broadband Access"
- Enable "BPA Enable"; and select your login server. Note that the login server depends on your state.
